The Pittsburgh Steelers may be in transition, and the Denver Broncos should call them on the availability of some of their players.

The Pittsburgh Steelers may be in transition after Ben Rothlisberger retires. Denver Broncos could call them and find out if they would be willing to part with some of their veterans.

Pittsburgh need to restore the offensive line and rejuvenate in defense. They have more holes than Denver, and it would be wise to unload the contracts of some veteran players for draft capital and extra space for cap.

I would expect General Manager George Patton to explore every possible opportunity to try to improve his team, and trading with teams is definitely on the table.

Although the Steelers have quite a few holes, they have a few talented players that the Broncos could use on their team. So which Pittsburgh Steelers would be the smartest for the Denver Broncos in trading?

Denver needs the middle of their defense. I think it will no longer be a necessity if they choose to re-sign one or more of Alexander Johnson, Josie Jewel and Kenny Young.

Even if Denver returns one or more of them by trading on such a quality linebacker Schöbert makes a lot of sense.

He was drafted by the Browns in 2016, played for the Jaguars in 2020 and 2021, and in the 2021 season was sold to the Steelers.

Schöbert made the Pro Bowl in 2017 and has since had at least 100 combined selections each year. He is consistent and also stays on the field. Schöbert has missed just four games in his career and is due to turn 29 in November this year.

Schöbert could provide a quality presence in the middle of the defense and would make a good pair with Baron Browning.
