The mountain tourist town of North Carolina is on the list of the best places to eat in the USA

A city in North Carolina is one of the best places in the country for foodies — so bring an appetite, a new ranking shows.

Asheville is ranked 10th in the list of cities that offer first-class restaurants and cuisine, according to the results released on Wednesday, January 18.

To create the list, travel website Tripadvisor looked at comments left by vacationers between November 2021 and October 2022. When examining food and other categories, the website said it considered “quality and quantity ratings and reviews” about “accommodations, restaurants and places of interest” across the country.

Asheville was the only North Carolina city to make the top 10 in the food rankings. Tripadvisor has been recognized as a popular travel destination for great restaurants near mountain scenery.

“If you love eating local and supporting sustainable agriculture, come to Asheville — and eat, eat, eat,” Tripadvisor wrote in its report. “In this city with a population of less than 100,000 people 17 farmers marketsand the local restaurant scene is about taking advantage of the seasonal produce that’s sold there.”

For those who come thirsty, Tripadvisor also ranked Asheville for its breweries. It may come as a surprise mountain tourist town recently made the list of beer-drinking cities in the U.S., according to McClatchy News.

Asheville is also no stranger to earning praise his dinner scene.

Yelp named the city last year the nation’s best place for foodies to check out. Restaurants in Asheville have also won awards for a range of offerings including hot chocolate and alfresco dining.

Overall, New Orleans is the top tourist destination on Tripadvisor. Rounding out the top five:

• Charleston, South Carolina
• New York
• Savannah, Georgia
• Maui, Hawaii

In a separate list best food cities in the world, the highest award went to Rome, Italy.
