With all the excitement surrounding the recently announced Galaxy Watch 5, we can’t forget about the Google Pixel Watch. This is Google’s first smartwatch, which is slated to launch this fall. In accordance with 9To5Google, Pixel Watch can actually use the Google Fi network at startup.
Google Fi is the company’s own signal carrier service, like many other smaller carriers. With it, you will receive a phone number, a tariff plan and all other attributes of the operator. At the moment, you could only use phones (both Android and iPhone), tablets, and Chromebooks with Google Fi.
But you might be able to use the Pixel watch with Google Fi
You’ll want to take this with a grain of salt, as this was discovered by disassembling the APK. Looking through the Google Fi app, 9To5Google was able to find some references to the Pixel Watch, specifically its codename Rohan. There is a line in the code “rohan_add_device_confirmation_details”.
Since Google The Fi app refers to the Pixel Watch, which could mean you’ll be able to use that device online. There’s no official confirmation at the moment, but it’s something to look out for.
When this watch arrives on Google Fi, we expect Google to make the device available for purchase on the Google Fi site. If not, another option is to purchase the watch from another store and activate it Google Fi.
Since it was discovered in the program code, there is always a chance that it could be taken away. We’ll have to wait until the device gets closer to release before we can say for sure. The Pixel Watch is expected to launch alongside the Pixel 7 phones in October. There’s a lot more to look forward to, so stay tuned.
