The Honda Prelude The convertible is a car you may not even know existed, and if you’re looking for a unique Honda, there’s one rare example that’s currently on sale.
Honda itself did not build Prelude Convertible and then sell it to consumers. Instead, every car started out as a regular Prelude before Solaire Corporation turned them into convertibles. It is not yet known exactly how many examples have been produced, some claim that only 37 have emerged. They all came with a Honda warranty and were sold through Honda dealerships.
The Prelude convertible in question is a 1981 model year and is sold through Whitmore Motors in Ashland, Ohio. Despite his age, he seems to have driven only 16,200 miles (26,071 km) and looks almost the same as when he first drove out of the Honda factory.

A sleek shade of red embraces the look, and the car continues to sit on the original silver star-shaped wheels. Also striking is a pair of black front and rear bumpers.
When converting Prelude in a convertible, Solaire Corporation removed the roof and replaced it with a removable soft top. It is clear that the rear suspension towers and the subframe of the car have been reinforced to compensate for the lack of a fixed roof, although we suspect that it is not as rigid as the coupe.
The cabin of the special Prelude has gray fabric seats with a red dashboard and a red transmission tunnel. The interior seems to be in good condition and includes an AM / FM radio.
Solaire Corporation does not seem to have made any modifications to the Prelude engine. Thus, it is still equipped with a 1.8-liter 4-cylinder airless, which produced 72 hp. in the American specification.
The dealership that sells the car valued it at $ 14,200.
