Thomas Tuchel confessed Tim Werner and Kai Havertz failed to “reach its peak”. Chelseas 1-1 draw with Manchester United.

Chelsea left Old Trafford with a point after Cristiano Ronaldo canceled Marcos Alonso’s first shot, but the visitors had a good chance of winning the game.

Havertz and Werner were in the lead in the Blues line-up with Ramel Lukaku on the bench, but failed to take their chance when David de Gea made a series of saves.

Disappointed Tuhel wanted more from his strikers and claimed that the players “lack determination” in the penalty area.

“One team deserved to win, and that was us. We didn’t take it, ”he said.

“It was a very, very good game, but we were not decisive enough. We lacked the determination in the penalty area to win the game.

“It happens sometimes. We have to learn from this. You must be clinical to receive the award. We have to live with the point, but it’s a dishonest result.

“We worked so hard to get ahead, and suddenly the opponent gets one free kick and kills.

“Rhys James played a very good match and Mason Mount was unlucky with his decisions.”

Discussing his decision to remove Havertz and Werner, he added: “We had a lot of chances.

“I think these two have not reached their peak performance today, and if they have, we have now become winners.

“That’s all, but no need to point a finger, we had enough chances to score today.”
