Raleigh, NC – On Sunday night rain and strong thunderstorms hit parts of the triangle.
Heavy storms have caused severe power outages in the Triangle, where Duke Energy estimates more than 5,000 customers have been left without electricity.
Businesses and restaurants nearby were also affected.
Many could be seen without light for hours on parts of the northern main street in Fukui Warina.
Police were working at the scene, redirecting traffic on a busy Sunday.
Duke Energy said electricity should be restored for most residents by the end of Sunday night.
No serious weather damage was reported after the storm.
