FAYETTEVILLE, NC — At 12:18 a.m. Sunday, Fayetteville Police Department officers were dispatched to Mikotos, located along the 7900 block of Raeford Road, in reference to a parking lot disturbance.

Several shots were fired at the vehicle over the phone.

Officers said the two men were under the influence when they left the business and got into a white pickup truck in the parking lot.

One of the suspects, 22-year-old Joshua Caleb Hunt, reportedly drove a truck through an outdoor recreation area in Mikotas.

Further investigation into the incident revealed that after the suspect got into an altercation in the open area, he got into a white pickup truck and intentionally drove it into the rest area, hitting several people. He then backed into the rest area, hitting them a second time.

The truck was shot at and the men fled the scene.

Officers were able to locate a vehicle containing one of the men. The second man was at a Circle K near the scene of the incident. Both men were taken into custody.

The second suspect, detained at the beginning of the investigation, was found not to be involved in Hunt’s actions and released.

Hunt, 22, was taken into custody and charged with:

  • Two counts of assault with a deadly weapon with intent to murder, causing serious bodily injury
  • One count each of assault with a deadly weapon causing serious injury, damage to real property and unauthorized use of a motor vehicle

Hunt is being held in the Cumberland County Jail on $300,000 bond.
