The updated VW Teramont X has appeared in China, featuring a slightly updated mid-size SUV style. If it looks familiar, it’s because Teramont X is a version of the Chinese market Atlas cross sportsand a five-seater more sporty version of the Teramont / Atlas.

The crossover coupe was introduced in 2019three years after his debut ordinary Teramont. The updated Teramont appeared in 2021, visually distinguishing itself from also updated VW Atlas, in terms of front and rear designs. Predictably, the same updates now transferred to a more sporty roof model for a holistic family look.

The current VW Teramont X R-Line, which joined the range in 2021 (below), compared to the updated model (above). Note that thanks to the redesigned front, it no longer resembles the Atlas.

The restyling focuses on the front, which gets a bar that separates the headlights, which merge with the updated grille, as well as a slightly different bumper. Note that the painted finish is the R line, first introduced in the Teramont X line in 2021, with sporty sunglasses surrounded by black accents. The profile remains unchanged and is identical to its US specifications Atlas cross sports twin.

At the back we have new LED graphics for the taillights, which are now connected by a glossy black panel and better aligned with the decorative chrome strip below it. This style has been previewed VW Lamando sedan and is likely to expand to other models from the VW range in China. Again, the R-Line bumper is more sporty than the base model, with a glossy black area, including fake chrome-plated square exhaust pipes that are completely locked, and a full-width reflector.

According to official documents of the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology of China (MIIT), Teramont X has a length of 4917 mm (193.6 inches), a width of 1989 mm (78.3 inches) and a height of 1729 mm (68.1 inches) with a wheelbase. 2980 mm (117.3 inches). Naturally, these figures coincide with the outgoing model.

Under the hood of this version 380 TSI is a conventional 2.0-liter four-cylinder turbocharged engine with a capacity of 217 liters. Power is transmitted to all four wheels via a seven-speed automatic transmission DSG and 4Motion AWD system from VW. The Teramont X was also available in a smaller 330 TSI version with a 2.0 TSI with 183 hp. (137 kW / 186 hp) and the flagship 530 V6 with 2.5 VR6 with 295 hp. (220 kW / 299 hp). will most likely be moved to an updated range.

The official debut of the updated Teramont X will take place later this year by joining Volkswagen SUV range in China.
