We need to unite for our football: Benjani

Former Warriors captain Benjani “Undertaker” Mwarouwari has asked Zimbabweans to unite for football in a country that has been further crippled by a FIFA ban.

The World Governing Body has imposed sanctions on Zimbabwean football from all international competitions, citing government intervention in the game, after the Sports and Recreation Commission (SRC) suspended Zif’s administration led by Felton Kamambo last November.

Mwarawari, who is also the national team’s assistant coach by virtue of overseeing U-23, believes the ban is a blow to Zimbabwean football, and has called on two sides, Zifu and SRC, to find common ground.

“Let’s hope this issue is resolved soon. This
it hurts us, the former footballers, to see what we have
going on, you know, but hopefully they will
solve it and they clean up football the way they do
they say if it is in favor of the game, ”he said Herald.

“It hurts both the former captain and the assistant
coach coach Warriors and juniors under 23
team coach, but we are now in a situation and
we need to fix what broke. I think that’s it
the only thing I can say is we need to fix what we have
broken, ”added Mvaruvari.
