Wawa Snipes and Sean Forbes will act as translators of American Sign Language during the Super Bowl show.

Two deaf rappers, Sean Forbes and Warren “WaWa” Snipes, will appear alongside some of the most famous hip-hop artists during the break of the Super Bowl show on Sunday, February 13th.
The couple was invited as sign language interpreters for the show – for the first time, American sign language artists will take part in the break. The headliners of the show during the break are Dr. Dre, Eminem, Mary J. Blige and Kendrick Lamar.
“Forbes and Wawa aren’t just ASL translators,” This was reported by Detroit Free Press. “They are full performers, energetic and expressive, who give music its own creative prosperity and artistry.”
So who are these two rappers and what did they say about making Super Cup history?
A native of Detroit, Forbes will share the scene with Eminem, another native of Michigan. He told ClickOnDetroit that “it’s not even being discussed” when asked if he would participate in the show, given his musical influences by headliners.
“My goal is to get out, show what we are capable of, and have fun,” He told Democrat & Chronicle. “And I want to open the door to other deaf performers.”
His 2020 album “Little Victories” topped iTunes and Amazon hip hop album chartsreports the National Association of the Deaf.
WaWa who calls himself “a rapper who proved deaf”, Hails from Washington, D.C., and has been involved in rap since 2005, according to his biography. This is also not the first time he has participated in the Super Cup. Last year, he performed the national anthem in American Sign Language.
He said in a Facebook post that performing at the Super Cup was a dream come true for him and he will now be able to do so in years to come.
“I am doing my best to break down these barriers and showing the world what #DeafMusicArrtists can do around the world and more, ”he said. “Believe me, I’ve been doing this for 30 years as an actor, dancer, martial arts master and blessed rapper. I see that the barriers are breaking down and we are starting to welcome our amazing deaf artists! ”
The National Association of the Deaf calls him a “pioneer” who has developed his own niche in the world of hip-hop.
In an interview with the National Association of the Deaf the couple mentioned how excited they were to perform with some of the greatest hip hop.
“I’ve been listening to their music for 30 years, so the kid inside me is now thrilled,” Forbes said after the first rehearsal.
“I feel energized, for example, I don’t want to stop, I want to keep going,” WaWa added. “Just give me more and more and more until I burst.
Deaf actress Sandra May Frank, who appears in the NBC series “New Amsterdam”, will perform the national anthem and “Beautiful America” before the start.
The LVI Super Cup between the Los Angeles Reims and the Cincinnati Bengals kicks off on Sunday, Feb. 13, at 6:30 p.m., by Eastern European standard on NBC.
