On February 16 (GMM) Williams removed the iconic and traditional “Senna S” logo from his Formula One car.

A small tribute was placed on or near the front nose of every Williams driver after the death of the great Brazilian in 1994 – but it is clearly missing in the recently discovered 2022 car.

Team founder Sir Frank Williams died in late November last year.

“The decision was that we want to move forward in the future,” said team’s new boss Yost Capito, who now runs the team owned by Dorilton Capital.

“We have a new era, we have a new car, and we have renovated our museum, where we have a special area to celebrate Ayrton.

“We had to look for the future and not show drivers an‘ S ’every time they get in the car to remind us of what happened,” Capitot added.

He admitted that the Senna family and the Instituto Ayrton Senna organization had not been consulted before the decision was made.

“We will be reuniting with the Senna family to increase our contribution to the Senna Foundation,” Capito announced.

“We believe in the fund’s program, it helps a lot. In what form we will do more here is not yet decided. “
